Writing goes against the very nature we have to survive at all costs, to protect ourselves, to feel comfortable, to find our safe spot in what often seems like an unsafe world.

Sometimes you have to gently tell your mind to go to time out, just like a naughty three year old. Remind yourself that you write all day long. You’ve been writing since you were a child and it has not hurt you yet. You spend hours writing emails, articles, shopping lists, and reminder notes every day.

I will sit down and write the title and main topics I want to cover in the article. Then I will open a new document and do the exact same thing with as many articles as I want to write that day. Once I’ve done this I will go back to the first document and write the article as fast as I can to get all of the content out of my head.

And that is how it should be for you. You should be writing from knowledge you know internally. If you don’t know your topic inside and out, start studying. If this is a real business for you, it should be worth it to you to learn your niche inside and out. That might mean reading 5-10 books on your topic. If you were to invest 2 hours a day for a month to read about your topic, imagine how much more knowledgeable you would be in 30 days!

Keep accurate records (copies of everything) for the IRS: the total for the entire school visit, i.e., amount you received for the actual day, or days, of presentations, number of books sold and the dollar amount, any expenses incurred (gas, mileage, plane ticket, room, food, etc.) that were not already paid to you, or for you, by the school.
